Flue gas systems

With regard to flue gas systems, an European directive obliges the application of a CE conformity marking in accordance with the construction products directive 89/106/EEC. Please refer to ‘certificates’ for more information.

In addition, it is stipulated that boiler-related flue gas material should comply with the gas appliances directive 90/396/EEC. This directive has a close relationship with the applicable essential conditions of the construction products directive.

The know-how and expertise that Muelink & Grol has acquired by means of certified measuring equipment in our research centre makes Muelink & Grol the perfect partner for the link between appliance and flue gas material. The Muelink & Grol research and test centre is equipped to certify combustion tests (for example):

Appliance type                                                                    Standard
- Gas-fired instantaneous heaters for sanitary                EN 26
uses production, fitted with atmospheric burners
- Gas-fired central heating boilers - Type C boilers        EN 483
of nominal heat input not exeeding 70kW
- Non-domestic direct gas-fired forced convection         EN 525
air heaters for space heating not exceeding a net
   heat input of 300 kW
- Independent gas-fired convection heaters                    EN 613
- Independent gas-fired convection heaters
incorporating a fan to assist transportation of              EN 1266
   combustion air and/or flue gases
- Domestic gas-fired forced convection air heaters        EN 1319
for spacing heating, with fan-assisted burners not
exceeding a net heat input of 70 kW

A CE-marking on a product alone does not mean that the product can be installed in any country; specific conditions with regard to installation and application of the flue gas material apply per country. Muelink & Grol is a trusted partner for the equipment manufacturer in determining the correct flue gas material for any specific country.

Ventilation systems

Contrary to flue gas discharge materials there are as yet no specific European product requirements for ventilation systems.
The installed system should, however, comply with the national applicable building directives. The following will play a role in this:
- Calculation of correct air quantity
- Taking fire regulations into account
- Requirements with regard to noise
- Correct positioning of openings
- No moisture
- Minimal maintenance.

The Muelink & Grol Hybalans system has been developed in such a way that the installation (if installed correctly) complies with the applicable national building legislation:
- The Muelink & Grol calculation programme for determination of
   the correct air quantities
- With regard to fire regulations raw materials without environmental
unfriendly additives have been used, all applied synthetic materials
comply with fire class E, in accordance with EN 13501-1. The
application of fire sleeves should be assessed for every
   installation separately
- The connection boxes are equipped with internal sound insulation
and each room will be connected separately, which prevents
   crosstalk
- The connection ducts to the outside air are made of thick-walled
EPP foam, which prevents condensate and the disturbing
   formation of moisture
- The specific design of the inner sides of the ducts and connection
pieces prevents turbulence of transported air, this prevents dust
from settling and the distribution noise is limited to the absolute
   minimum.
